The Month of Festivities

Greetings from Hotel Annapurna View Sarangkot!

The New Year of the Nepali, Bikram Sambat calendar falls on April 14th this year, and on behalf of the Hotel Annapurna View Team, we wish you a Happy New Year. During this time, the Newar community of Bhaktapur—one of the popular sightseeing destinations in the Kathmandu valley—will hold a weeklong festival, called the Bisket Jatra. 'Bisket Jatra' is a Hindu-Newar festival marking the beginning of a new year.

April 30th marks the birthday of Lord Gautama Buddha, known as 'Buddha Jayanti'. Many Buddhist pilgrimages sites like the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Lumbini (birthplace of Lord Buddha) and the Swayanbunath and Boudhanath stupas of Kathmandu Valley hold sacred prayers to honour Shakyamuni (Buddha) from dawn to the dead of night.

Though at present, Nepal is full of hustle and bustle of festivities welcoming the New Year, we haven’t compromised the security of our hotel. Our security guards here are never off duty and are dedicated to protecting our extensive property. They are running security on both the inside and outside of the building 24-hours a day; your safety is their first priority. So, you can enjoy your stay in peace and comfort.

In our next newsletter, we will give you an insight into the vicinity of Sarangkot.

Till then best wishes from the team at Hotel Annapurna View Sarangkot.
